Hi lovely people,

Often in times when we think of kids, most of us think of them as hard work and tiring. To be honest in the first few weeks of kids ministry that’s what it felt like. For me as a higher energy person who likes to be physically active,  I had thoughts that this is tiring and boring because there wasn’t much we were able to do with them. The girls mostly just sat around. There were also thoughts that I can’t do this for 6 weeks and I just want to go to the next country now.

In the last 2 weeks God has allowed me more peace and joy during it. He has given me the desire to sit with the kids and show them motherly love. Physical touch is not something that I grew up with and I don’t really know what it is like. For those kids many of them don’t get that at their homes and all they want is someone who is willing to love them like a mother loves their child. In this ministry, God has grown me in being okay with physical touches and being truly loved by the kids. These kids bring so much joy and peace and they are so content with so little.

During this process, God has given me more confidence in sharing the gospel to the children. I was able to have a nice conversation with two of the girls who are 6 and 7 about praying and trusting God.  Also, this past week my team and I got the opportunity to partake in sharing what baptism is with the kids and then we were able to baptize 16 teenagers. “Jesus said, (“children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him Psalm 127:3”). Crazy to say we are in our last week of ministry and it’s sad that we most likely will not see the them again.

Praying over the kids after their baptism.

Many of these kids come from difficult places. Some of them struggle with getting food so that’s why they come to the care point to get one meal a day. Many of the children have been abused. Some just come from families who can’t afford anything. Sometimes the older children would have to care for their younger siblings. In saying all this, I would really appreciate it if you would pray about sponsoring a child/children. Here’s the link: https://sponsorship.adventures.org/carepoint/lesibovu
